breakline

I opened the gallery because I wanted to both showcase wonderful artwork and also as a studio for my own development as an artist. And then I fell in love with color and words and the blending and separations of both.

My own art is about learning to express thoughts and emotions, my own humanity, put onto rectangles to express the commonality in our existence by the personal vulnerable truths I express about myself. Because I believe making art captures the essence of what it is to be human, that technology and electricity has separated us from ourselves, I want to have a gallery.

I want to preserve what is important about us, inside each of us and what is between us. I want to cause others to think and feel because they can relate to what I think and feel. My influences began with the confessional poets, Sexton and Lowell- then I was moved to tears by the urgency in Van Goghs strokes- and found myself reawakening to life as I began first to observe color in Rothko and Mitchell, and later in everything I saw.

Becoming a painter distinctly changed the way I see the world; lifted me from myself into something a little greater than myself. I began to see the color in everything. I suppose I have become a confessional painter-- documenting my journey and I hope that others might take an interest in my life through art, and in that reflection begin to awaken to see the color in themselves and our world.

The colors blunted by the numbing hum of tech, come alive again- dreams revisited. In this very small gallery there are lots of big ideas and great pieces of art, great books and sculpture.

It's the only place in Denver with Kozyndans' witty prints, and the work of several local artists. Lately I've discovered comic art too-- the original works of folks like Dan Piraro (BIZARO) are now lightening our lives!!.

So Please come on in and visit and look around and laugh with me (or at me)! We can play chess, drink wine-- support the arts!- Check back to the website often there are great things to come- Janet
